| Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, November 29, 2016 George John Bordenave, M.D. died peacefully in Cottonwood, Arizona on September 30, 2016. Dr. Bordenave was born in Berwyn, Illinois and was the son of Joseph and Helen Bordenave along with his siblings, Joseph L., John and Robert. Dr. Bordenave attended Loyola Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, followed by a residency in general surgery at Milwaukee County Hospital where he met his loving wife, Rose who was his bride of 68 years. After residency, he served in the Korean War as a surgeon in the Army in a MASH unit which he told his children sometimes truly resembled the T.V. program of that title. After honorable discharge from the Army as Major, Dr. Bordenave practiced as a Board certified general surgeon in Geneva, Illinois and was on the staff of the Geneva Memorial Hospital, along with his brother Dr. Joseph L. Bordenave, who practiced as a family practice physician. Dr. Bordenave came to Cottonwood, Arizona in 1974 with his family and was a member of the Verde Valley Medical Center staff and served as chair of the Verde Valley Medical staff. Dr. Bordenave was a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons. He enjoyed working in his office and at the hospital in Cottonwood and thought the patients were truly wonderful people. He had a passion for hand surgery, which he had provided for patients for several years in Geneva, after completing a Fellowship in hand surgery at Northwestern University Medical Center, in Chicago, Illinois. He also provided hand surgery for the patients in Cottonwood, particularly those with work-related injuries. Additionally, Dr. Bordenave worked with many cancer patients and provided surgical care for them. Dr. Bordenave is survived by his wife Rose and children, Susan, Mary and James and brother, Robert. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish Church at 700 N. Bill Gray Road, Cottonwood Arizona.
