ROUSH, Julian Sherman (Stretch) Julian Sherman (Stretch) Roush passed away peacefully in his home on July 10. He was born in Milton, Iowa on April 22, 1936. The family moved to the Valley in 1941. He was in the first class to graduate from the current Tempe Union High School. He was also on the reunion committee. From 1953-1961 he served in the Naval Reserves. In 1957 he went to work for the Salt River Project and retired 35 years later in 1992. Stretch served as Scout Master for troop 13 for several years and belonged to The Order of the Arrow., received the Order of Merit Award and Family of the Year Award. He also served on several different committees at South Mountain Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Sue, sons, Jerry (Bernadette) of Phoenix, William (Shannon) of Post Falls, Idaho and Jim of Norfolk, VA. He is also survived by his daughters, Jodie Murray of Sacramento, CA; Betsy (Steve) Hull of Phoenix; seven grandchildren and a number of cousins. Services will be held at Thursday, July 17, 2003 at South Mountain Community Church; located at the corner of 7th Street and Southern, followed by a celebratory pot luck in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower St., Phx, AZ 85014 or to South Mountain Community Church, 717 E. Southern Ave., Phx, AZ 85040.
