Shirley M. Long passed away on December 14, 2016 in the arms of her
loving daughter, Diane. Shirley was born in Milwaukee, April 30,
1929, the younger of two daughters, to William and Helen Scharhag.
Laverne, the elder, and Shirley (yes, that's right, Laverne and
Shirley) grew up in Wauwautosa, WI.

Shirley met Emanuel (Manny) Schneider in Milwaukee, at Bradford
Beach on Lake Michigan. They were married on October 1, 1949. Son
Daniel and daughter Diane soon followed and in 1954 the family moved
to Southern California.

Shirley was a kind, compassionate and fun mother. During the
family's years in California, there were many trips to the beach,
Disneyland, visiting family and friends and spending lots of time
outdoors. Shirley and family returned to Wisconsin in 1963, settling
in Cedarburg. Dan remembers singing old songs with his mother while
doing dishes at the kitchen sink. Diane enjoyed spending time in the
kitchen with Mom too and her introduction to great cooking. In 1973
Shirley and Manny surprised Dan and Diane by announcing their move
to Lake Havasu City. Shirley lived in Havasu 43 years. She loved
Havasu and enjoyed sharing it with her children during their visits.
Shirley was proud of her 13 years as Operations Supervisor at Mohave
Savings and Loan in Havasu. After the passing of Manny in 1983,
Shirley married Marvin Long. They enjoyed travelling by RV &
boating. They loved the friends and relationships formed during
their years here, especially those at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
Shirley's last 6 years were spent at Prestige Assisted Living. She
loved the staff and the wonderful care she received.

Shirley is survived by her son Daniel, his wife, Mary Lansing, and
their adult children, Grace and William; and daughter Diane and her
husband, Nelson Broce. They have been blessed to have a
mother/grandmother so caring, so devoted, and so beautiful in every
way. She will be held lovingly in their thoughts and prayers. We
love you Mom.

A service in her memory, ministered by Pastor Craig Corbin, will be
held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on January 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to River Valley Home
Health & Hospice. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the
Schneider/Long family in care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
Thoughts and condolences can be sent to the Long family at
