Donald Ray Chesnut, age 78, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away August 18, 2004. He served in the U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visitation Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. Services were held on Monday, August 23, 2004 at First Christian Church of Scottsdale, 7405 E. McDonald Dr., Scottsdale, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary. CHESNUT, Donald Ray
Donald Ray Chesnut, died August 18, 2004, in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was 78 years old. Mr. Chesnut was born January 2, 1926 in Hiawatha, Kansas to Charles and Agnes Chesnut. He was the youngest of four sons. He graduated from Reserve High School and then entered the Navy. After completing his service in 1946, Don attended Kansas State University. In August 22, 1948, Don married Ilavere Idell Stapleton at the Reserve, Kansas, Christian Church. Don and Ilie raised two sons, Ronald and Steven.

Don graduated from KSU in 1950 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Don was also a member of the Masonic order. Don worked for The Boeing Company from 1950-1990. During that time, Don became a valued member of the company and was promoted swiftly to management positions. He managed many important military and aerospace aviation projects and served as an Officer of The Boeing Company for many years. He completed his career as President of The Boeing Helicopter Company, Philadelphia, PA.

He is survived by his wife, Ilie, son Steven and wife Patricia, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Karen. Don was preceded in death by his son, Ron. It is known that he bravely fought cancer and won every time. It was the cure that weakened his body so much and finally made recovery impossible. Visitation on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Messinger Indian School Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale. Funeral on Monday, August 23, at First Christian Church of Scottsdale, 7405 E.
