| The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, January 11, 2017 Yvonne “Shelley” Michelle Jones-Newman, 53, born July 20, 1963, in San Francisco, Calif., was called home Dec. 23, 2016. Shelley was raised in Wickenburg with her parents and two brothers. She was a tom-boy by all accounts, active in athletics and cheer/pom in high school. She was married young and had her daughter shortly after. After leaving Wickenburg, she lived in Wyoming and eventually settled in Pinetop, Ariz. Her son Brian was born not long after. She landed a job at the casino and worked her way from a bookkeeper to the casino operations manager. After more than 10 years at the casino she left and worked as an auditor for the State Gaming Offices in Phoenix. Jobs came and went, but she was happy to be closer to her children and relocated back to Wickenburg. Shelley was such a loving soul. She was sensitive to every hurt and tragedy that surrounded her. She felt the deepest empathy for even a stranger’s pain. She was loved by many she encountered throughout life. Shelley loved her family with every ounce of her being. She is survived by her daughter Allyson (Richard) Estes; step-daughter Crystal Newman; step-son Daryl Newman; parents, John and Erlene Jones; brothers John (Sidney) Jones and David (Jennifer) Jones; grandchildren Makenzie Sawyer, Jennifer Estes and Lyle Brown. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 970 N. Tegner in Wickenburg. |
