| CLIFTON, Elda O. Elda O. Clifton, 95, Mesa, Arizona, passed away September 5, 2003. Private Services. Contributions may be made to Scottsdale Nursing & Rehab Care Center. Newcomer Family Mortuary. Published in the Arizona Republic on 9/10/2003. CLIFTON, Elda O. Elda O. Clifton, age 95, passed away peacefully September 5, 2003 at the Scottsdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Hazelhurst, Wisconsin, Jan. 14, 1908 to Clotchide and Armides Vachon. They moved to Owens, WI. In 1925 Elda and Floyd E. Clifton married in Owens. She was employed by the Owens Enterprise Newspaper. In 1947 she moved to Madison, WI, where she was employed at Wisconsin State Journal Newspaper where she was a lynotype operator and proof reader until her retirement in 1973. She then moved to Mesa, AZ. She was a member of Queen of Peace Parish, Mesa. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and loved bowling. She is survived by sons Floyd (Kathleen) Clifton of Scottsdale, AZ; Gerald (Donna) Clifton of Mesa, AZ; Donald (Margaret) Clifton of Sun Prairie, WI; Daughters Beverly (Charles) Davis of Madison, WI; Donna (Francis) Swiggum of Madison, WI; Darlene Karraker of Westfield, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son Kenneth Clifton of Rio, WI. She leaves to mourn 37 grandchildren, 62 great grand-children and 30 great great grandchildren. Private graveside services are pending. Newcomer Family Mortuary assisted the family. Published in the Arizona Republic on 9/14/2003. |
