SOMMER, Shirley Gorsuch

Shirley Gorsuch Sommer, 77, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2004. She was born in Bloomingdale, Ohio on September 18, 1926. She moved to the Phoenix area in 1950. She earned her Bachelor and Masters degrees and completed further graduate work at Arizona State University and held teaching positions at Arcadia High School, teaching English literature. She traveled extensively during and following her teaching career.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Joan Bryant of Columbus, OH and is survived by her husband, John R. Sommer, Sr.; a son, Ernest Eichelberger, Jessup, MD; a daughter, Susan Salyer of Tucson, AZ; 3 grandchildren; a brother, John W. Gorsuch of Albuquerque, NM and a sister, Mrs. Marian Feisley, St. Clairsville, OH. Memorial service at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 East Lincoln Drive on Wednesday, September 1st. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St. Tempe, AZ 85282-3145. Published in the Arizona Republic on 8/31/2004.
