| KOVACEVICH, Ruth A. Ruth A. Kovacevich, age 83, passed away June 27, 2003 in Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ari M. Kovacevich, in December of 1992. There are no surviving family members. Ruth Kovacevich was born in Yorkville, Illinois November 6, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Lena Hardekopf. Her parents, brother, Edgar, and a sister, Erma, preceded her in death. She was married in 1946 to Ari H. Kovacevich and accompanied him to Austria, Germany, and Turkey and the Washington, D.C., area during his government career. In retirement they shared their time between Scottsdale, Arizona and McLean, Virginia. Ruth was a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in elementary education and George Washington with a Master's Degree in educational administration. She pursued a career in education in Illinois, Washington, D.C., and Arlington County, Virginia where she retired as an elementary principal. She also worked in education in Austria, Germany, and Turkey. Visitation and services held Thurs., July 3, 2003, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb, Illinois from the Ronan-Moore Funeral Home. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Kovacevich Scholarship Fund, N. I. University in DeKalb, Illinois or to a charity of your choice. Published in the Arizona Republic on 7/2/2003. |
