KANGAS, Ilene R. Ilene R. Kangas passed away on June 17, 2003 in Reno, Nevada. Born April 8, 1928 in Safford, Arizona, the daughter of Jack and May Hagan. Survived by her daughter Linda Nichols and son-in-law John Nichols of Sparks Nevada, sister Anna May Hopkins of Buckeye Arizona as well as many nieces and nephews. She graduated from Safford High School and then resided in Phoenix from 1953 until 1978. She then moved to Benson, Arizona and lived there for 20 years. Ilene was retired from the Federal Civil Service at Luke Air Force Base. She was a "survivor" of breast cancer and Guillain-Barrè. Those who knew her will always remember her as a very strong, enduring and courageous woman. She was a loving mother, sister and friend to many, and will be missed. Memorial services will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Church located at 1212 East Glendale Avenue in Phoenix Arizona on Thursday, June 26, 2003.
