Hold Rites For Mrs. Merritt

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Jane Merritt, pioneer resident of Prescott, were held at the Lester Ruffner Funeral Home at 2 o'clock this afternoon. The services at the chapel were conducted by Rev. Charles Franklin Parker, were followed by internment in Mountain View Cemetery, where graveside rites were held by Golden Rule chapter, Order of Eastern Star, of which she had been a member for many years.

Pall bearers include: Cecil Overstreet, Luke Samuelson, James Whetstine, S. B. Kent, Nelson Puntenney and Dan Seaman.

Mrs Merritt, a native of Illinois, came to Prescott 65 years ago and taught school in various mining camps before her marriage to the late John S. Merritt, who died in 1933.

She is survived by a son, Charles S. 'Jimmy' Merritt, an employee of the city.
