Robert “Bob” Finerd, 82, passed away March 12, 2009 at his home in Kearny. He was born July 29, 1926 in Findlay, Ohio to Charles and Elizabeth Finerd, one of 13 children.

Raised in Ohio, when he was only eight years old he would wade across the Blanchard River to help a butcher and this is where he learned to be a meat cutter. He was a “jack of all trades” and had worked at various jobs in his life. In Ohio, he worked as a policeman and with the water department. When he moved to Arizona, first in Tucson, he worked for the Water Department in Marana and he also worked at several stores as a meat cutter. When he moved to Kearny, he worked for Gordon’s as a meat cutter before retiring.

An outdoorsman, Mr. Finerd enjoyed camping and fishing. He also enjoyed his hobby of woodworking.

He was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Finerd is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pat Finerd of Kearny; daughters, Joyce (Ed) Francisco of Kearny, Eloyce (George) Weisenbaugh of Michigan, Sue (Fred) Varela of Apache Junction and Janice (Arnold) Bailey of Tucson; son, Robert (Susan) Finerd of Tucson; three sisters who live in Ohio; a special niece, Caris Thompson; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
