Rudy E. Ruiz

Rudy E. Ruiz, 92, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2007 in the presence of his daughter.

Born on June 5, 1914 in Dilley, Texas, Rudy relocated to Hayden as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps. There he met and married his wife of 56 years, Maria Luisa (Garcia) Ruiz. Together they raised 5 children.

Rudy worked for the Kennecott Copper Company from 1941 to 1974. When he retired, he moved to Dudleyville and will be remembered for working the land and growing crops of corn, chilies, vegetables, melons, and pecans.

Preceded in death by his eldest son and wife, he is survived by four children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Rudy is also survived by the families of his two brothers and two sisters who reside in San Antonio, Texas.

Services were held on Feb. 28 at St. Joseph’s Church in Hayden.
