Loretta Ann Flores, 59, lost her battle with cancer Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Amber Rose Hospice in Mesa. She was born Oct. 14, 1947 in Modesto, California. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has been a member of the American Legion for 48 years and was a longtime member of the Kearny Elks Lodge. She participated in numerous fundraising events, collecting money for various charities and scholarships including the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the Diabetes Foundation. Mrs. Flores moved to this area as a young girl in 1957-1958. She attended school in Hayden, graduating from Hayden High School in 1965. She worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and later Copper Basin Railway for a total of 30 years. She served as an assistant to the president of Copper Basin Railway. She served as a great inspiration to her family and friends and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susie. Left behind in loving memory are her husband, Rudy Flores; son, Rudy Flores II; daughter, Teresa Flores; sister, Mary Vail; brother, Roger Towry; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services for Mrs. Flores will be held Friday, April 6, at 10 a.m. with a viewing from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kearny Ward Building, 200 Hammond Drive, with Bishop Brad Baker presiding. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Foundation. Griffith Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements. 04/03/07 |
