Mary Lou Ovaska, 78, of Superior, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 in Scottsdale. She was born Feb. 28, 1928 to Ben and Georgia York in Alicia, Arkansas. She moved to Mesa in 1949 and then to Superior in 1960. She had been trained in nursing and worked as a nurses’ aid and a dental hygienist. Mrs. Ovaska was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW as well as working as a volunteer at the Superior Senior Center. A homemaker, she loved to garden and grew a lot of flowers in her yard. She is survived by her sons, George Thompson of Oracle and Bennie Thompson of Amarillo, Texas; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A visitation was held at Superior Funeral Home on Tuesday, followed by graveside services conducted by Pastor Alvie Amos at Fairview Cemetery in Superior. Superior Funeral Home assisted the family. 01/23/07 |
