Elsie M. Gidley

Elsie M. Gidley, 89 of Kearny, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Tucson. She was born June 5, 1912, in Queen City, Texas and came to the old town of Ray in April of 1945.

She and her family then lived in Riverside before moving to Kearny.

A homemaker, she loved her family and especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed telling stories about the "old days" and about her grandfather who was an herb healer.

In Ray she was an active member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen (Glenn) Halley of Tucson and Alice (Jean) Williamson of Hemet, California; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and eight great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Agnus Vaugh, and her son, William "Bill" Burleson.

Graveside services were held this morning, Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Fairview Cemetery in Superior with Rev. Grant of the Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Kearny officiating.

Arrangements were made by Griffith Mortuary.
