Posted 2009-05-11 by Superior Sun News
Norma Loretta Gonzales, 77, joined the Lord and her beloved Father on March 10, 2009.

A lifelong Arizona resident, she was born to Walter and Sofia Swanson in Florence and raised in Superior, where she met her high school sweetheart, Gilbert Gonzales. Tri-Delta at U of A, Fine Arts Major and Die Hard Wildcat fan.

She devoted her life; love; support to (and survived by) her husband of 56 years, Ret. Major Gil Gonzales of Tucson); her number one son, Robert Gonzales (Karen); daughters, Ann (Bob Hadd) and Becky (Todd Norton), and youngest son, Steven (Lori Ann) and sister, Elsa. She had nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She loved to sing, dance, read and cooked with love. She was fortunate to have traveled the world but her husband and family were what she held most dear. Bright with unmatched wit and humor, she was the definition of integrity and honesty. We will miss her unconditional love and support and look for her in all the beautiful sunsets and desert blooms. Vaya con Dios, mom.

Services were held at St. Francis de Sales, 1375 S. Camino Seco, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009. Arrangements were by Carrillo’s Tucson Mortuary Inc.

Following the May 1, 2009 daily 8 a.m. Mass for Norma Gonzales and George Mariscal

Jr. (by the Superior High School Class of 1949) at St Francis Church in Superior, relatives, friends and classmates will gather at the gravesite of Walter Swanson (Superior Fairview Cemetery) for the burial of Norma Loretta Gonzales’ ashes.
