Paul Chavez Martinez

Posted 2009-05-12 by Williams-Grand Canyon News
Paul Chavez Martinez, a lifelong resident of Williams, was born on March 19, 1919 to his parents, Andres and Aurora Martinez.

He worked at Bellemont until he retired at the age of 50. Early retirement gave him the chance to do what he loved the most in life, which was to hunt and fish. In the summer you could find him fishing at any one of the lakes around here, mostly Cataract and usually with a stringer full of fish, never giving away his secret bait.

Paul married his childhood sweetheart Beatrice Torrez who he shared his life with for 68 years. The two of them had three children, Paul Jr., who passed away at the age of 16, Debbie who lives in Kingman with her husband Jim McCain, and Paula who lives in Williams with her husband Rob Puga. Paul has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Mary Martinez, who lives in Cottonwood.

Paul was a great husband, father and grandpa. He will truly be missed.

Services were held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 11 a.m.

Condolences can be sent to the family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Norvel Owens Mortuary.
