| Seattle Times (Seattle, Washington) Sunday, December 13, 2015 Kathryn Jayne Gerrard (1957-2015) Born April 29, 1957 in Berkeley, CA; died December 8, 2015 in Edmonds, WA. Survived by Joel Nichols, her loving husband of 19 years; her daughter, Lillian; sister, Karen Gerrard; brother, DJ Gerrard (Vivian); and nieces and nephew, Alison, Nicholas, and Lena. Preceded in death by her parents, The Rev. Dan and Jayne Gerrard. Born when her father was in seminary, Kathy was raised in Wickenburg and Phoenix, AZ. She attended Northern Arizona University, then moved to Oakland, CA, where she was the only woman at the time to work in the print shop at UC Berkeley. Upon moving to Seattle in 1984, she held administrative positions in the mortgage and energy industries. In 1999, she took permanent maternity leave and devoted her full-time energies to making a home for her family and volunteering for Teen Feed (a homeless youth ministry), for St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, and for the Edmonds School District. Her passions were cooking, nature and children. She always looked for the wonder and good in everyone and everything.
