Joseph Carl Mee, 81, of Murrieta, Calif., entered eternal life on Nov. 11, 2016. Born July 29, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was the son of the late James Mee and Dorthea (Darby) Mee.

Joe loved to play baseball and was drafted out of Fremont High School in California in 1955 by the Valdosta Tigers, a division of Detroit Tigers, as a pitcher. He was also recruited by the Pittsburg Pirates, but chose to play for Detroit because his family was from Michigan. He gave up a scholarship to USC to play for the Tigers.

He threw out his arm, but continued coaching as many as four teams at a time, up to high school level, after leaving the Tigers. He coached his son Dale during that time.

Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years Lola A. Mee; son Dale A. Mee (Patricia) of Morristown; daughters Vickie Arentz (Ron), and Donna L. Mee; brother Charlie Mee of California; grandchildren Mollie Densley (Mee) and Dylan, Keith Arentz and Jordan Arentz; two great-grandchildren Stoli and Halo Densley and other extended family.
