Mary Strange, 93, of Prescott, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009. Mary was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Needles, Calif. Her interests included rock collecting, sewing and collecting Coke tabs for McDonald's charities. She was also an avid stamp collector, having collected them since the age of eight. Mary was a member of the Salvation Army Home League. Her parents were well known for founding Kirby's Camp at the Grand Canyon in 1928, later named Moqui Lodge. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her son Lee; daughter Nancy; and husband Walter. Her daughters Betty Strange of Prescott, Louana Otero of Williams, Bonnie McCleary of Williams, son Sam Strange of Williams, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren, survive her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity. Condolences can be sent to 531 E. Edison Ave., Williams, AZ, 86046. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11 a.m., at the Williams Cemetery. Published Tuesday, May 12, 2009 Williams-Grand Canyon News. |
