Sylvia Lawson Folkman, age 83, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 12, 2007. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Folkman; the mother of John L., Randall D. (deceased), Andrew R. and Robert L.; mother-in-law of Amy E. and Melanie W.; and grandmother of Nathan, Katherine, Brenna, Callie, Caroline and Magdalen Folkman.

Sylvia and her beloved husband had retired to Prescott nearly 18 years ago. With the passing of her husband, Sylvia moved to Cleveland Heights, Ohio, to be near family.

Sylvia has been described by her friends as "one-of-a-kind." She was modest to a fault, and never let most people know that she was a graduate of Ryder College, an all-state high school violinist in Pennsylvania, successful owner of a business that generated enough revenue to put her husband through Cornell University, and, for a short time, worked during WWII as a "Rosie the Riveter." She steadfastly supported her husband's career while raising four boys.

In retirement, she traveled to numerous points abroad. She adored her friends, and never turned down an opportunity to pit wit against wit over a game of bridge. While in Prescott, she volunteered as an art docent, and was an avid supporter of the Yavapai Symphony Orchestra.

Her family will miss her joy of life, her humor, her love and her many kindnesses. The family is grateful for the continued contacts, calls, support, cards and letters sent to her over the years by her many friends.
