W. Pritchett and was largely attended. Deceased was about 40 years old and was universally liked by all who knew him. All the teamsters on the Jerome road who could get away came to attend the funeral. His relatives live in Utah and were communicated with yesterday, sending back word to have the remains buried here. ------------------------------------------ Weekly Arizona Journal-Miner, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, November 18, 1891, page 3, column 4 A Fatal Accident From parties who came in from Jerome yesterday, further particulars of the accident spoken of in the last issue has been learned. The name of the unfortunate man is Brig Hall, a teamster engaged in freighting between Verde station and Jerome. On Tuesday afternoon, just after he was starting down the hill into Mescal gulch, his front wagon struck a stump, throwing him from his seat. It is supposed that one of the horses struck him on the head with his foot, as there is a large hole in his forehead, as if struck by the heel of a horse's shoe. A number of teeth were also knocked out while the wagon passed over his chest, arm and shoulder, breaking his arm and crushing his shoulder bone and otherwise skinning and bruising him. When the parties spoken of passed there yesterday, Hall was still unconscious, and it was thought he would not live. Since the above was in type, word has been received that Hall died last night, and a conveyance was sent to-day for his remains which will be buried to-morrow afternoon. Deceased was well known in Prescott, having formerly been employed as a driver by C. W. Culver. His body and head were badly mangled, and he exhibited wonderful vitality in living as long as he did. Transcriber's note: Mr. Hall is buried in an unmarked grave at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona. |
