Gilliland Jr., 77, passed away on Aug. 12, 2017 in Prescott, Arizona. Champ was born on May 11, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to parents Champ and Novella Gilliland. He is survived by daughter Ramelle Gilliland; sisters Bonnie Beltram-Wipprecht and Brenda Gilliland; nephew and family, Jody, Patti and Liam Beltram. Champ was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, but relocated to Arizona after his service in the U.S. Army. In 1965, he married Maxine Gilliland and they were together for 39 years until she passed. In 1969, he joined the Phoenix Fire Department, where he proudly served until he retired in 1995. He was a proud and giving man who always wanted the best for his family and friends. Please join us in a Celebration of Life, Sept. 1, at 1 p.m. at Prescott National Cemetery, 500 Highway 89, Prescott, Arizona. Memorial reception will follow Cemetery Service.
