Bluffton--Dorla Irene (Morris) McCoy, age 86, of Bluffton, Ohio, died peacefully on July 3, 2016, at 5:05 pm at the Mennonite Home in Bluffton. She had endured Alzheimer's Disease for over 15 years. Dorla was born in Lima, Ohio on June 13, 1930, to the late Harold L. and Miriam A. (Roush) Morris.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Russell and Bernard Morris, and her loving husband Ronald McCoy.
Dorla graduated from Lima South High School in 1948, and married Ron in August 1949. She worked for the Lima School Board and then for Westinghouse. She was a loyal member and Sunday School Teacher at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Lima, and attended the English Lutheran Church in Bluffton. Dorla and Ron traveled extensively throughout their lives. They also enjoyed bowling, square dancing, golfing, and "showing the ponies" with their friends at various fairs. Dorla always had her camera with her and chronicled all of their travels as well as the lives of her family. Their slide shows at family gatherings were legendary. Dorla also enjoyed many years as a volunteer at the St. Rita's Hospital in Lima. After retiring, Ron and Dorla moved to their winter home in Wickenburg, Arizona, and a summer home in Bluffton. As Dorla's disease progressed, they returned to Bluffton, and Dorla moved to the Mennonite Home. Ron spent every day with her until he died. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care and kindness bestowed on Dorla by the staff at the Mennonite Home.
Dorla is survived by her in-laws, many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
There will be a Graveside service held in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum @ 3000 Harding Hwy., Lima, OH 45804 on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Michael Hughes. The family has entrusted the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL in assisting them with funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church @ 209 W. North St., Lima, OH 45801.
