Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ >>> Published on Sunday, September 3, 2017 <<< Ronald Jerome Pitts, 75, passed away Aug. 30, 2017 at Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center. He was born in Los Angeles, California to Charles and Geraldine (Simmer) Pitts and was the oldest of five children. He lived in Hawthorne, California with his family for most of his life and recently retired to Havasu with his wife. He worked as a project manufacturing engineer at Northrop Grumman from 1966 until he retired in 2010. For over 40 years he was a member of the drag boat racing community as a driver and owner. His boat “Sunday Showdown” won numerous championships with the National Jet Boat Association, the International Hot Boat Association, and the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. He had many friends, was loved by all and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob. Ronald is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Zinkan-Pitts; five children: Ronnie, Bobby, David (Marlene), Jimmy, and Ashley; stepchildren, Michael and Phillip and his wife Rayna; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Mark, Mary Kay, and Suzanne. A celebration of Ronald’s life will be at a later date. Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
