(From Friday's Daily)

The funeral of poor William Vernon was one of the largest ever
witnessed in Prescott.

The services were conducted in an impressive manner by Rev. Mr.
Hunt.

The coffin was built by Mr. Miles and was very costly. The
trimmings were of gold and silver, while the whole top was covered
by floral wreaths, brought by the hands of his friends.

The hearts of his comrades who followed the corpse to the cemetery
were indeed.

Death of William Vernon

This morning at six o'clock William Vernon, a highly respectable
citizen of this city, breathed his last and closed his eyes upon all
things in this world.

Mr. Vernon was a native of Washington, D.C., 40 years of age. He
leaves in the Capital of the nation a mother, several sisters and
brothers to mourn his loss, and in Prescott the entire community to
regret his sudden and untimely taking away, and to sympathize with
his bereaved relatives, who have been telegraphed the sad news.

Mr. Vernon at the time of his death was proprietor of the Parlor
Saloon, one of the most fashionable places of resort in this city,
and it is thought that his exertions to take proper care of his
business was the cause of a severe cold contracted, which turned
into pleurisy, and was the immediate cause of death.

In his dealings, Vernon was always upright, manly and prompt, which
gave him a good standing with those with whom he had business
relations. None knew him but to respect, and there are few of our
citizens who preceded him to the celestial shore who had more or
warmer friends, than William Vernon in Prescott.

Funeral to-morrow from his residence at 2 o'clock P,M. Friends and
acquaintances are invited to attend.

Transcriber's note: Mr. Vernon's place of burial has been found.
