Arizona Daily Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Tuesday, October 15, 1907 Roof Caves In And Kills Miner While engaged in operating a machine drill in a drift on the 1,000- foot level of the Yeager Canyon mine, sixteen miles east of here, yesterday morning, about 2:30 o’clock, Abato Aranda was instantly killed by part of the roof of the drift caving in on him. Deceased was aged about 30 years and a native of Mexico. He leaves no known relatives in this part of the Territory. His remains were taken in charge by the Ruffner establishment and brought to this city last night for interment. ------------------------------------------- Prescott Weekly Courier, Prescott, Arizona Territory Friday, October 18, 1907, page 3, column 8 About 4 o'clock yesterday morning a telephone message was received at the sheriff's office that a man had been killed at the Yeager mine, and to send out a coroner. The man was killed at 1 a.m., while at work on the 1000 foot level, by a rock falling on him. His name was Abato Arando (sic Aranda). He was a Texas-Mexican, and had lived in this section for about five years. He was 30 years of age. The remains were brought to Ruffner's undertaking parlors last evening. Justice McLane went out and held an inquest. The verdict of the jury was accidental death.
