Rita Aguirre Cortez passed away at the untimely age of 55 years Dec. 31, 2001, at her home in Kearny and was buried in Bloomington, California, next to her son, Johnny, as was her request. She was born in Crookston, Minnesota Sept. 27, 1946, to mother, Mary Ortiz Aguirre and father, Eugene Aguirre. She married Ruben Cortez 33 years ago on Nov. 13, 1968, in Chino, California and bore four children, three daughters and one son. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Aguirre, and by her beloved son, Johnny Cortez. Survivors include her husband, Ruben Cortez of Kearny; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Nikko Estrada, and grandchildren, Vincent, Veronica and Valarie Rodriquez, all of Tempe, Randy Rodriquez of Kearny, and great-granchild, Andrea Aguilar, of Tempe; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and China Quiroz and grandchildren, Mark Eileen and Delina Quiroz, all of Rialto, California; and daughter, Lora Salazar and grandchildren, Alexis and Anissa Salazar, all of Kearny. Mrs. Cortez is also survived by another grandchild, Jonathan Cortez, who just moved to Utah; her mother, Mary Ortiz Aguirre of Berryville, Arkansas; brothers, Eugene Aguirre and Freddie Aguirre, both of Berryville, Arkansas, and Robert Aguirre of San Bernadino, California; and sister, Mary Emma Guerra of San Bernadino, California. She also leaves behind many others whom she took into her heart and her home and loved as her own children and grandchildren, and many friends both in the community and in the church. 01/25/2002 |
