Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Territory Monday, October 13, 1902, page 3, column 5 Saturday last Alfred Averyt died at Wickenburg on his way to Prescott from Phoenix. He had been in poor health for some months and went to Phoenix in hop that a change of climate would be beneficial. He was 33 years of age and a native of Alabama. He had resided in this section for some years. H was at one time in the mercantile business, and had his store on the ground now know as the Scopel corner. Later on he was elected city assessor and was the incumbent of that office at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his death. He was a most worthy young man and his untimely death is sorrowful to contemplate. He was a member of the order of the Woodmen of the World, and his funeral took place yesterday from the family residence under the auspices of the local lodge of that order. --------------------- rizona Daily Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Monday, October 13, 1902, page 4, column 3 The funeral of the late Alfred Averyt took place yesterday afternoon and the procession was one of the largest seen in Prescott for months. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. B. Long, assisted by Rev. Moffett. The Woodsmen of the World conducted the service at the grave, deceased having been a member of that order.
