Saturday last Alfred Averyt died at Wickenburg on his way to
Prescott from Phoenix.

He had been in poor health for some months and went to Phoenix in
hop that a change of climate would be beneficial. He was 33 years
of age and a native of Alabama. He had resided in this section for
some years.

H was at one time in the mercantile business, and had his store on
the ground now know as the Scopel corner. Later on he was elected
city assessor and was the incumbent of that office at the time of
his death.

He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his death. He was a most
worthy young man and his untimely death is sorrowful to contemplate.

He was a member of the order of the Woodmen of the World, and his
funeral took place yesterday from the family residence under the
auspices of the local lodge of that order.
