Camila Hernandez

Camila Hernandez, 80, of Chandler, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Desert Samaritan Care Center in Mesa.

She was born on July 18, 1921, in Madiscal, Texas. A resident of Arizona for 51 years, Ms. Hernandez lived in Superior for 46 years before moving to Chandler five years ago.

Cooking was her specialty and she also enjoyed gardening and listening to Spanish music. She was a very caring person and was always visiting and cooking for someone that was ill.

Survivors include a son, Joe and Dolores Olivas of Chandler; daughters, Rosa and Tommy Vera of Chandler, Paula and Wayne Byrd of Superior, Maria and Dave Gamble of Baja, California, and Rachel and Rick Montoya of Superior; an aunt, Juana Macias of Superior; 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Ms. Hernandez was preceded in death by her Uncle E. "Gabby" Hernandez.

Visitation for Ms. Hernandez will be Wednesday, March 13, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. The Rosary followed. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, March 14, at St. Francis. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements for Ms. Hernandez were handled by Miles Mortuary in Miami.
