Bertha Garrido

Bertha "Betty" W. Garrido, 77, entered her eternal rest March 9, 2002, at Cobre Valley Community Hospital in Globe.

She was born March 3, 1925 in Superior and was one of the oldest natives of the community. She was a housewife and was known for taking care of her family and her unconditional love.

Mrs. Garrido was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Mexicanitas and was a lifetime member and supporter of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was a Girl Scout leader and was past president of the PTA. She was involved in many civic activities and was clerk of the Election Board in Superior.

Her husband, John, and her son, Johnny, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Garrido is survived by daughters, Terry Watson, Irene Rivera and Mary Rose Wilcox, all of Phoenix, Christine McAnany of Denver, Bertha Gonzales of Bisbee and Carmen Navarro of Superior; a son, Steven Garrido of Superior; 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Garrido were held earlier today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family with arrangements.
