Wayne Dodd

Wayne Dodd, 86, entered his eternal rest on March 14, 2002, at Desert Samaritan Medical Center in Mesa. He was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Sacramento, California.

Mr. Dodd served honorably in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Medal with a Bronze Star and was present during the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

After his discharge from the service, he attended art school and subsequently pursued a career as a painter while travelling about the western states.

He settled in the Apache Junction area in the 1950s where he painted and prospected in the Superstition Mountains with his mule, Judy.

Mr. Dodd later moved to Superior where he concentrated on his art. He resided in Superior until shortly before his death.
