Maria Rodriguez Garcia of Dudleyville went to her heavenly home April 28, 2009. She was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on May 26, 1925. She married Jose Jacobo Garcia of Tellingua, Texas on Sept. 18, 1948. They moved their family to Dudleyville from Winkelman in 1962. Mrs. Rodriguez was a devoted mother and wife and was known as “Grandma” to many neighborhood children and students of the Hayden-Winkelman Schools. She was also known for her fresh tortillas, made daily for neighborhood children and families on their way to work or school. She was a teacher’s aide for many years at the Hayden-Winkelman School District in Winkelman. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Church where she and her husband were Cursillistas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jose. She is survived by sons, Jose Luis Garcia (Eva), John Garcia and Rosendo Garcia, all of Dudleyville, and Larry Garcia (Catalina) of Mammoth; daughters, Margie O’Brien (Matt) of Milpitas, California, Esperanza Cotrill (Chuck) of Tucson and Marta Gontarz (Daniel) of Phoenix; grandchildren, Miguel Garcia, Christina Garcia, Paul O’Brien, Joe O’Brien, Mary O’Brien, Patricia Lease, Jason Lease, Jenny Townsend, Candice Garcia, Melanni Garcia, Tony Kelly, Robert Rutledge, Gregg Garcia, Tim Garcia, Cecilia Garcia, Jacob Garcia, Mario Gontarz, Matthew Gontarz Steven Gontarz and Sara Gontarz; and many great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her and will reside in their hearts always. |
