Mahala Kathryn Arrison

Mahala Kathryn Arrison, 93, of Casa Grande died May 13, 2009 at Hospice Family Care.

The funeral Sunday at Victory Baptist Church, with Pastors Terry Green and C.W. Cones officiating. Visitation will follow. Burial Monday in Coolidge Valley Memorial Park.

Mrs. Arrison was born Oct. 15, 1915 in Randolph, Nebraska. She was a homemaker and was known for her love of the Lord and teaching little children. She also was known for writing letters to as many as 100 family members and friends even though legally blind. She was watched over by a granddaughter, Debra A. Ahumada of Casa Grande.

She and her husband developed the first fish hatchery in Kodiak, Alaska, in 1951. Her wish was for her and her husband to be together with the Lord. He died three weeks earlier.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Shoemaker of Willis, Texas; two sisters, Donna F. Schrauben of Torrance, Calif., and Georgia B. Queen of Ione, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 58 years, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Dippold; a brother, Herbert B. Boughn; and four sisters, Helen M. Joslin, Bonnie J. Taylor, Bernice Williamson and Lorraine Donahue.
