Sylvia (Lucy) (Bejar) Verdugo

Sylvia (Lucy) Bejar Verdugo, 50, of Kearny, passed away Monday, April 29, 2002 in Mesa. She was born in Ray, Arizona, Dec. 13, 1951.

She was a professional executive secretary for human resources at ASARCO and was a member of P.E.O. She was also a CCD teacher at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny and a member of the Crusillo Movement.

Survivors include her son, Richard of Scottdale; father, Miguel A. Bejar of Kearny; brother, Armando Bejar of Kearny; and sister, Elvira B. (David) Messer of Mesa.

There are also two nephews surviving, David A. Messer and Michael Bejar; and a niece, Angela Bejar. She also leaves behind numerous other relatives and many friends.

Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church will host the recitation of the Rosary. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Dale Branson Friday, May 3, also at the church.

Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa.

Arrangements were handled by Griffith Mortuary.
