Carlos B. Montano, 89, of Mammoth, passed away Monday, March 18, in Tucson. He was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Ray AZ and moved to Mammoth in 1946. In 1975, he retired from Magma Copper Company after working for them for 25 years. During World War II, he served with the United States Army and had been a member of the American Legion and for a period of time he was active with the senior citizens in Mammoth. He is survived by his daughters, Cecilia Montano, of Tucson, Terri Montano, of Las Vegas, NV and Marcella Montano, of Mammoth; sons, Sylvester Castro, of New Mexico and Carlos Montano, Jr., of Tucson; two sisters, Enriqueta, of Tucson and Josephine, Of California; sixteen grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23 with Father Gilbert Padilla celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Valley View Cemetery in Mammoth. March 26, 2002. |
