Services for Marion "Bud" Cordell Smith were held March 5 at Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford, OK with Rev. Aubrey Miller officiating. Interment followed in McGee Cemetery in Stratford. He passed away March 1. Born June 28, 1930, in Whistle, OK to Bur and Levon Burke Smith, he was a long time resident of the Tri-Community area. He worked for Magma Copper Company from 1956 to 1977 and then for Kennecott Copper Company until 1981. He spent his last few years in Stratford OK running his own Blacksmith business. A veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the American Legion as a finance officer, he was also a member of the Assembly of God Church. Smith was best known for his big smile and pleasant attitude and his kindness toward all that knew him. Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Smith; son, William Jackson Smith, of San Manuel; daughter, Karen E. Burris, of Alca, OK; two sisters, Emma Smith and Retha Ageww, both of Stratford, Ok; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Michael Scott Smith and his first wife, Edna Lee Smith, preceded him in death. 03/26/2002. |
