Alberta Lee (Bert) (Martineau) Rapier

Posted 2009-05-18 by Eastern Arizona Courier
Alberta Lee Rapier was born August 31, 1949, to Ralph and June Martineau.

Bert, as she was affectionately known throughout her life, moved frequently in her early years but always considered Overgaard her home.

In her teens, the family moved to Tempe, where Bert graduated from McClintock High School.

She met and married Danny Wayne Rapier on Jan. 10, 1970, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Her family was completed with the addition of two sons, Jerry Lee Rapier and Ryan Martineau Rapier. After raising her family, Bert started a new chapter in her life by pursuing her education at Eastern Arizona College and Western New Mexico University.

She received her master's degree in counseling and provided counseling services to many children and their families in both Graham and Greenlee counties. Throughout her life, Bert's greatest joy was her family. Bert entered into rest May 13, 2009.

She is survived by her husband, Danny; and her two sons, Jerry and Ryan; along with her father, Ralph Martineau; her sister, Josephine Bates; and her four grandchildren, Abby, Braden, Logan and Kate Rapier. She is preceded in death by her mother, June Martineau. She lived a truly exemplary life that will serve as a standard to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 16, in the Duncan LDS Stake Center with viewing 1 hour prior.

Interment followed in the Duncan Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
