Virginia D Poarch, 80, died of a cerebral hemorrhage June 22, 1993 at St Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. She was 80.

The daughter of James M and Madeline Davis Ong, she was born Dec 26, 1912, at Soldier, Ida.

She grew up and attended school at Hagerman, Ida., near Twin Falls, and the family later moved to Ophir, Utah. She graduated from high school at Salt Lake City.

She was head costume designer and seamstress for the Salt Lake Opera and Symphony organization, then worked as a bookkeeper for a mining and milling operation in Utah and Arizona.

In 1961 she began working as a bookkeeper for the Military Order of the Purple Heart at California, and retired in 1974.
A marriage ended in divorce.

After her retirement she moved to Roseburg, Ore., to be near her daughter, and in 1978 moved to Orofino. She remained active in volunteer work for a Forest Service information booth and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the World Wildlife Fund.

She enjoyed reading, sewing and crocheting.

Survivors include a daughter, Leeanna Corning of Kirkland, Ariz., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A son and seven brothers and sisters died previously.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service may be held at a later date.

Pine Hills Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
