William Neal Wheatley

Born in Wise, Virginia on Oct. 9, 1921.
Departed on Jan. 11, 2005 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

William Neal Wheatley, 83, of Cottonwood died January 11. He was born October 9, 1921 in Wise, Virginia.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army where he did cold weather experimentation for the B17 in Alaska.

He worked on the construction at the Prescott Fairgrounds which has the oldest rodeo and also on road construction around Arizona. He also had worked in mining and automobile factory work.

His hobbies were crossword puzzles, reading, camping and he enjoyed the outdoors.

He leaves his wife of 24 years, Helen Wheatley; sons, Bill Wheatley of Ormand Beach, Fla., Jim and Tim Wheatley of Prescott; a daughter Judy O'Dwyer of Grand Junction, Colo.; nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by family members Sue Howell, Lynn Wheatley and Russell Wheatley.

There are no public services planned.
