"Joe" LaVoyce Moore Arizona Range News, The (Wilcox, AZ) - Wednesday, November 16, 2011 1921-2011 Joe Moore passed away Nov. 8, 2011 in Frisco, Texas at age 89. He was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Godley, Texas to Thomas F. and Ella Deason Moore. Alma Faye Horne Moore, his loving wife of 50 years, and his son Allan Kent Moore, preceded him in death. In addition, twelve brothers and sisters preceded him in death. His sons Kert and Keith Moore, his daughter Kande Moore, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters, survive him. Joe served his nation in WWII from July 10, 1940 to July 9, 1945. On Pearl Harbor Day, Joe was on furlough and returned immediately to Ft. Bliss where he was in the U.S. Calvary. Joe transferred to Camp White Oregon into the 5th Army; Powder River (91st) Infantry Division-361st Regiment on Jan. 18, 1942. Joe was a Staff Sergeant in North Africa and the European Theater (Italy). Joe's battle campaigns with three Bronze Stars in the European Theater were Rome-Arno; the liberation of Rome, Northern Apennines and Po Valley. After the war, Joe farmed in Texas, Arkansas and Arizona, and then operated several businesses. Joe was an inventor and had three patents. Burial took place in Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas. Services were under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors, Lubbock. |
