Departed on Sept. 6, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Charles L. Yates, 81, of Cottonwood died September 6. He was born January 11, 1922.

He retired from a career in the Navy. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Moose and the Elks.

Mr. Yates enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and sports in general, especially football. He had played all conference football in Clarkdale.

He leaves a brother, Verbon F. Yates and cousins, Jack Mayes, Melba Stultz, Helen Johnson and Virginia Williams.

There are no public services planned.
