| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, May 23, 2009 Esther Elizabeth Conger Higgins, age 97, passed away May 20, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born on May 22, 1911, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Julius Arthur and Cora (Williams) Conger. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Sheldon Roy Higgins. She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Elaine Higgins of Stevensville, Mont., and cousin Edith Grosscup of Washington, Iowa. Esther was a graduate of Pomona College with both a B.A. and M.A. in English; she taught English and later worked as a social worker. Her family will remember her as a beloved homemaker, wife and mother. Commemoration services in honor of Esther will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 630 Park Ave., Prescott. Heritage Memory Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. Information provided by survivors. |
