"Gunny" Earl was born April 4, 1932, in Vernon County, Wisconsin. He
joined the U.S. Marine Corps at 17 and served our country bravely for
20 years, including tours during the Korean and Vietnam wars where he
spent time at the front lines as a tank mechanic. He married Mary G.
Mehlfelt in 1953 and they were happily married for 47 years. He was
definitely a man's man and extremely patriotic. He always had a story
to tell, which usually started in the middle. His favorite hobbies
were hunting and fishing, and many animals ended up in the hallways to
Mom's chagrin. he loved to play cards and was on many bowling leagues.
He was the king of sarcasm. He was very proud of his family and loved
each and every one and really enjoyed family visits. He had his daily
rituals and knew exactly how he wanted things, even though it would
take him forever to make a decision. He was the glue of our family and
we're really missing him.
