| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, May 15, 2009 John Albin "Al" Strom passed away at the age of 93 on Friday, May 1, 2009 in Prescott, Ariz. He was born on Aug. 9, 1915 in Ray, Ariz. to John and Ida Strom. As a young boy, he spent several years in Washington State in the Puget Sound area, where his parents were farmers, before returning to Arizona for the remainder of his life. He was very proud to be an Arizona "native" and to have attended the University of Arizona in Tucson. He was a life long U of A Wildcat fan. He was predeceased by his parents; three siblings; and two sons, John Sven Strom and Lawrence "Larry" Harland Strom. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Winifred "Wynne" May Strom; one daughter-in-law, JoAnn Strom; five grandchildren, Barbara (Don) Heaton, John Charles Strom (Chanda), Heidi (Ken) Moon, Catherine Strom and Jo (Derek) Lane; eight great-grandchildren; and several cousins. An informal service (gathering) will be at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to Yavapai Exceptional Industries, 436 North Washington Ave., Prescott, Ariz., 86301; Salvation Army, 237 South Montezuma St., Prescott, Ariz., 86303; or Hospice Family Care, Inc., 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, Ariz., 86301. Hampton Funeral Home provided arrangements.
