Raul J. (Jerry) Rascon

Raul J. "Jerry" Rascon, beloved son of Raul and Tibursia Rascon, passed away from complications related to Multiple Sclerosis on May 5, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz., at the V.A. Community Living Center with his family and friends by his side - this includes the nurses and caregivers who gave their all and always gave him the best of care.

Raul was born on April 30, 1962, in Carlsbad, N.M. He grew up in Hobbs, N.M., and attended schools there. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for six years. During his Naval career, he was promoted to Sonar 2nd Class, which is the rank he had at the time of his discharge.

Raul attended Albuquerque T.V.I. and became a commercial printer, also taking electronics I and II. He worked for the Boys Scouts of America and Lovelace Hospital as a printer and was a skilled computer tech.

His hobbies were fishing, hunting, traveling, playing guitar and meeting people. He also turned to God and gave his life to the Lord by obeying God's commands as stated in the Bible in Acts 2:38.

He was a friendly person and was loved by all who knew him. Through all his sickness, he trusted in the Lord.

Raul will be missed by his loving family. Surviving Raul are his father, Raul Sr.; mother Tibursia Rascon; two sisters, Celina Bryant (Danny) and Marci Renteria (David); brother Isaac Rascon (Pam); son Vincent Rascon; nieces Amanda Rascon, Emilie and Olivia Renteria; and nephews Elias and Jacob Rascon. He had many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.

Raul J. "Jerry" Rascon was buried in Phoenix, Ariz., on May 9, 2009, with Naval military honors at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary.
