Kathleen F. Krugel

Kathleen Francis Krugel, age 88, rejoined her husband, Donald, in heaven on May 19, 2009.

She passed away at Westchester Care Center in Tempe after living many years with the challenges of being a stroke survivor while maintaining a positive attitude.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Krugel was born May 14, 1921. She was a graduate of Janesville High School, St. Catherine’s College, and Mankato State College.

She taught in public and Catholic elementary schools in Waldorf, Waterville and Mankato, Minn. She always enjoyed working with nursery school/kindergarten children and training student teachers.

She and her husband celebrated 60 years of marriage and loved golf and the country club lifestyle. They were longtime members of Mankato Golf Club and Prescott Country Club in Arizona.

In 1973 she and her husband, Don, moved to Arizona for health reasons. They managed apartments in Phoenix and Prescott.

She is survived by her son, Joe, and daughter-in-law Paula of Chandler; grandson, Dustin, of Memphis, Tenn.; and granddaughter, Heather Barnes; and great-grandson, Lincoln, of Santa Monica, Calif.

There are also many extended family members and cherished life long friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Breuer; husband, Don; and a sister, Sybella.

The family gives their thanks and appreciation to those who were so helpful and kind to Kate in her later years, especially the caring professionals at Fellowship Square in Mesa.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her memory can be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
