Elizabeth Dacey

Posted 2009-05-28 by Fountain Hills Times
Elizabeth Dacey of Fountain Hills passed away on Jan. 25, 2009 after a long illness. Elizabeth spent most of her adult life as a beloved member of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart of Philadelphia.

Elizabeth (nee Sister James Michael GNSH) obtained two additional degrees from Villanova University. She used these degrees in theology and educational counseling to serve many students at Cardinal Dougherty High School, Bishop McDevitt High School, Melrose Academy and D’Youville College. Her students to this day admire her excellent teaching and unending concern for their needs. She is also joyfully remembered for her sense of humor and enjoyment of fun.

Elizabeth served on several Grey Nun Chapters, using her faith in God and her knowledge of church law to assist in chapter matters. She was also a Grey Nun administrator prior to leaving the congregation to work with Paulist Press Publications. Her strong faith in God was always her shining grace to the end.

During her last years and final illness, she was devotedly served by her brother, Michael, and her sister-in-law, Chris Dacey. She now rests peacefully with her mother, Mary, and her father, George and her beloved aunt, Alice Cillis. In additional to Michael she is survived by her brother, James Dacey of Jupiter, Fla., her sister, Carol Schroeter of Columbus, N.J. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral details are being arranged for this Friday by Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
