Robert Alan Heap

Robert Alan Heap of Rio Verde died Dec. 22, 2007 at age 76.

He was born March 25, 1931 in Aurora, Ill. to Wilber and Maude Heap.

Bob, as he was called by all, is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Kevin, John and Brad; one stepson, Mike Blair; one stepdaughter, Monica Weir; and nine grandchildren.

Bob graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1950 and went on to play football for the University of Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo. He was a veteran of the Korean War and finished his education at the University of Colorado upon his return from the war.

Bob started his career at Owens Corning and after a couple of years of service he left to become a partner in Merrick Heap & Associates in Denver, Colo. In 1978 he founded Colorado Lining Company and continued a successful career in specialty construction focusing on water containment.

Bob and Barbara moved to Rio Verde in 1995 and have been members of the golf club and community since then. Bob had many friends in Rio Verde and enjoyed golfing and gardening in his retirement years.

We will miss his good stories and fun personality. Bob Heap was truly one of a kind.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association, in honor of Robert A. Heap, 61 Broadway, N.Y., NY 10006.

There will be a memorial service at the Rio Verde Community Church on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. There will be an Irish brunch following the memorial in the Copper Room at Rio Verde Country Club.
