Robert L. “Bob” Hisle

Robert L. “Bob” Hisle, 70, of Connersville, Indiana, died Friday evening, Nov. 16, 2007, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, where he had been admitted on Monday.

He was born Oct. 4, 1937 in Williamstown, Ky. to Hunter and Verdella Gunnell Hisle.

He attended Connersville area schools and entered the U.S. Army in 1954. He was stationed at Ft. Devens, Mass. and completed the Nike Specialist course with the Second Battalion, First Guided Missile Group.

On Aug. 17, 1956, he was married in Stoneham, Mass. to the former Carol L. Macdonald. They had resided in the Connersville community for the past 31 years. Bob was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He liked to tinker with cars and had trouble resisting a good deal on used cars. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching football games and NASCAR races.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carol; three children and their spouses: Cindy and Toby Ailes of Connersville, Robert A. and Stephanie Hisle of Scottsdale, Jeffrey D. Hisle of Connersville; a brother: Jimmy Hisle and his wife, Linda of Connersville; three sisters: Carolyn Hudson of Connersville, Sheila Grassman and her husband, Larry of West Palm Bay, Fla., Becky Taylor of Connersville; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, John William Hisle, his parents, a sister: Velma Jean Butler and a brother-in-law: Charles Hudson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor John Reynolds of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.

Interment followed in Dale Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council.
